John Thompson
Coach Thompson started his coaching career at Weatherford High School in Weatherford, Texas in 1996. He spent one year at Weatherford before returning to his hometown of Ardmore, Oklahoma and coached the high school team there for three years as the defensive backs and receivers coach. Thompson left Ardmore and moved on to East Central University, his alma mater, where he served as a graduate assistant linebackers coach for one year. From there Coach Thompson moved back to Texas and was the cornerbacks coach at South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas. After 5 successful years in Grand Prairie he went on to become the linebackers coach at Euless Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. While at Trinity the Trojans won two state championships and were runner up in another season. Thompson left Trinity in 2016 after 10 seasons and moved to Bentonville West High School where he is the safeties coach and defensive coordinator. This is a role he has served in for the last five years. John is the husband to Teresa Thompson who is also a science teacher and softball coach at BWHS. The Thompsons have two children, Tre’ (14) a 9th grader and Emma (11) a 6th grader.
