The schedule in the 7-A West is not an easy one for any of the teams that occupy the conference. Bentonville West has had some impressive victories but some tough losses as the conference season has progressed. The matchup Friday night against Springdale Har-Ber would be another difficult test for the young Wolverines squad. Springdale Har-Ber came into the game against the Wolverines as the number one team in the state and that is how they would stay when the game ended.

The first quarter did not start in a fashion that the Wildcats are used to, when quarterback Payton Copher went deep on a pass play and had it picked off in the process. Bentonville West would not be able to take advantage of the turnover and the first quarter would become a bit of a defensive battle. Har-Ber would get the scoring going when Connor Sikes punched the ball in from 6-yards out to make the score 7-0 Har-ber. The Wildcats would hit a deep pass play when Payton Copher hit Matt Thomas for a 47-yard touchdown pass to make the score 14-0 and that would be the score going into the second quarter.

Springdale Har-Ber would put Bentonville West away in the second quarter. The Wildcats lit up the scoreboard with 24 unanswered points. Clayton Kunkle would get the scoring going in the second quarter when Payton Copher connected with Kunkle on a 20-yard touchdown pass. Har-Ber would get a field goal from Jesus Zizumbo to make the score 24-0 Har-Ber. The Har-Ber offense was not done; Copher would hit Trey Smith on a 31-yard touchdown pass. Cornerback Tevin Eckwood would put the game further out of a reach when picked off a pass and returned it 58-yards for a touchdown. The score at the half would be Springdale Har-Ber 38-Bentonville West 0.

The clock would run continuously in the second half due to the sportsmanship rule coming into effect. The final score would be a shutout for the Wildcats Har-Ber 45-Bentonville West 0. With that victory Har-Ber set the stage for possibly the biggest game of the year against the Fayetteville Bulldogs from Wildcats Stadium Friday. Bentonville West will hit the road to take on a struggling Rogers Heritage squad that is hungry for a victory.
