Har-Ber, West excel in Kansas-Oklahoma tournament

Springdale Har-Ber and Bentonville West combined for 10 individual champions in the Kansas-Oklahoma tournament in Caney, Kan., over the weekend.

The Wildcats finished second out of 19 teams and had six champions and 10 medalists. West was third as a team with seven medalists and four champions.

Brendan Davis, the defending Class 6A-7A state champion at 113 pounds, won at 126, while teammates Max Salinas (145), Alex Wilson (152), Ben Fears (182), Quentin Reed (220) and Alejandro Ramirez (285) also won their respective weight classes. Isaac Withrow (113) and Logan Collins (195) were each second, Josh French (132) third and Trevor Davis (120), fourth.

Jackson Nichols, who is expected to to be a state contender, was participating in another school function over the weekend and did not compete. The Wildcats did not have a participant at 138.

West's Zack Ireland, the defending 6A-7A state champion at 106, won at 113 to lead four Wolverine champions. Jake Adams (120), Walker Fox (132) and Stephen Fox (138) also won their weight class. Daryl Easterling (126) and Gunner Coppinger 285) were both third and Garrett Poyfair (160) was fourth.
