Coach Bryan Pratt is learning at Bentonville West. Not much is expected out of his young team by fans and some media publications, but Coach Pratt and his Wolverines simply do not see things that way and that is the way it should be. Mascot Media members had the opportunity to talk with Coach Pratt on Monday and came away impressed with the work ethic he is instilling in his young Wolverines.
Watching practice and conditioning drills Monday morning, it was clear that this will be a team that does not take short cuts. The Wolverines and Pratt were both excited and looking forward to putting the pads on August 1st. Getting his team that will have no seniors ready to go for the 2016 season will be a difficult task, but if anyone has the determination to it, it is Pratt and his coaching staff. Pratt informed me quickly, that the Wolverines “will not be a Junior Varsity team.” The Wolverines and the coaching staff expect to win some games in the 7-A West.
The Bentonville West coaching staff is very high on sophomore wide receiver Jadon Jackson. If the 2015 season is an indicator, Jadon will explode on the 7-A West scene. In 2015, Jackson caught 18 touchdown passes and shattered the school record in the 100 meters with a time of 11.3 seconds. Jackson will be a player to watch in the 7-A West; he has the speed and hands to be a nightmare for corners. The skill players are young but this will be a talented group. Will Jarrett at quarterback and Jadon Jackson will make for a fun combination to watch over the next few years.
Coach Pratt and his young team is not one to take lightly. The group is determined and they are putting in the work, to grab victories during the course of the season. The 7-A West Conference is going to be a nightmare to compete in, but the Wolverines are looking forward to that challenge. The rest of the 7-A West underestimating Bentonville West would be a big mistake judging by the talent that Pratt has at his disposal. For fans of high school football in Arkansas, sit back and wait, Bentonville West will surprise some teams.
