Three West pitchers combined to throw a four-hit shutout as the Wolverines opened their season with a victory at home over Northside.

Maddox Thornton threw two hitless innings and struck out, while Aaron Arnold allowed all four hits threw three innings. Jonah Keener then threw the final two hitless innings and struck out four.

West (1-0) scored four runs in the first inning, then added a solo tally in the third and three runs in the fifth. Cole Kitchens had three hits to pace the Wolverines' 12-hit attack, while Zach Trammell and Kendall Thornton had two hits and drove in two runs apiece.

West returns to action in the Benton Tournament as the Wolverines take on Sheridan at 7 p.m. Thursday.
