The Bentonville West Wolverines were impressive in picking up the first win in school history over the Van Buren Pointers on the 23rd of September. The road in the 7-A West would get tough for the Wolverines as they squared off against the Fayetteville Purple Dogs. Fayetteville came into the game against Bentonville West angry after falling to Bentonville on September 23rd.

The Purple Dogs came out clicking on the offensive side of the ball during the first quarter. Fayetteville quarterback Taylor Powell would strike quickly against the Bentonville West defense. Powell would connect with Kris Mulinga on a 5-yard touchdown pass to grab the lead 7-0 over the Wolverines. Wolverines quarterback Will Jarrett would throw a pass that would be picked off by Cemari Dobbins and returned for a touchdown to put Bentonville West behind 14-0. The first quarter would not go any better for the Wolverines when Powell hit Brennon Lewis on a touchdown pass to up 20-0 in the first quarter. Fayetteville would tack on a field goal at the end of the first quarter to make the score 23-0.

Bentonville West would eventually, go into the half behind 43-0 to the Purple Dogs. The story of the game for the Wolverines was turnovers. Bentonville West turned the ball over four times, which allowed the Purple Dogs in which to work. The turnovers gave the Bulldogs an opportunity to play some of the younger guys like Darius Bowers. Bowers was effective in the action he saw as well. Bowers connected with Barrett Banister and Korbin Dickason on touchdown passes. The final score would be Fayetteville 50-Bentonville West 14. The Wolverines had Jadon Jackson catch two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, which kept the Wolverines from being shutout.

Bentonville West will play host to the Springdale Bulldogs Friday night. Springdale is looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Springdale Har-Ber last Friday. The Bentonville West Wolverines will be looking to put the game against Fayetteville in the rearview mirror. The Fayetteville Purple Dogs will travel to Rogers, to take on the Mounties. Rogers has rapidly become a dangerous team in the 7-A West and the matchup should be a good one Friday night.
